I'm having a solo event this fall! Scream emoji! Happy two-step-spin dance! It's true! It's lllonnnggg overdue!
In fact, folks, it's quite overdue! I had attended many spectacular gallery openings but had never sat down with my own professional goals in mind. Last year, I was blown away with inspiration from my successful Nevada Photographer fbk friends! It was during my first Write on Site Group session at Swill Coffee in Reno with retired UNR Professor, author Meggin McIntosh (my dear friend and mentor) that I sat and actually WROTE an action plan in less than two hours! Fast forward a few months and BOOM! Yes, Cinderella, dreams REALLY due come true!
I will be hanging photographs of various themes and in keeping with my artistic bent on creating series after series...they will create quite a stir! Something old, something comfortable, something new, something patriotic, something blue, and of course something that will surprise even my closest friends and family!
I will be sharing the BACK WALL at the Nevada Artist Association Gallery in Carson City this September with Fred. I don't know Fred or his artwork. I do know that when the confirmation email came I barely read it! Once given the choice of taking the entire wall or sharing it - I felt or rather, I knew Fred had inadvertently become part of my story. I'm not a wall hog. I can easily share the wall AND this experience even though this is the most exciting thing that's ever happened in regards to my life behind the lens....just saying!
So here the lesson learned is twofold: 1) dreams need an action plan * write that hard-copy without delay and 2) embrace Fred and all the artists within your hula hoop!
(grammar police side note: I'm using due/do in my blog as a writer and dream catcher)
