So as the year whines down, I realize I have been blown away over and over. I am totally amazed that I'm still standing! No! This isn't a wild, raging "rant" blog. Just the opposite, I have been blessed and find myself so very thankful!
Family tops the list: watching Tucker's graduation in May. I was the first of my family to go to college and graduate. Seeing my son graduate with honors made overcoming every challenge in my life seem worth it at that moment! Visiting my dad and daughter in July. Watching Abb and her friend collect seashells on the seashore made me believe all the more in the beauty of a child's heart. Yes, she's 21 now, and she looked hell in the eyes this year and yet stood tall and persevered. For my dad, I left a small bouquet of yellow and green Duck carnations at his grave-site in August. Sadly, he missed a big football game today. Oregon whooped UCLA 42 to 21! Realistically, I know he suffers no longer. For that I'm thankful. In August, I attended my mom's birthday party held along the famous las Animas River. The river of lost souls. Therein lies another blog topic, politically charged I might add because the 2015 mining spill still crosses my mind.
Professional gains made the list: Fort Churchill photo contest winner. Pacific Crest Trail Association photo winner x2. FOCUS 3 presentation. Carson's True Grit NEA Exhibition. Reno is ARTown's Made in Nevada Marketplace. In Keepin' It O'Keeffe back-wall exhibition at Nevada Artists Association Gallery with Fred. It was a huge success because the photos hung for six weeks - encouraging conversations about Georgia, art and the meaning of life. Lastly, the Humboldt Museum's Holiday Fine Art Show is coming up in a few weeks. I designed a complete series of winter themed photo scarves. I ordered photo bags and coffee cups because they added so much to my ARTown booth. My website has its own domain. I had to google domain definition more than once. That's another blog entirely.
So as the year winds down, I leave all whining behind. Yes, there's always drama but I choose to find joy. Peace. I choose to live in peace.
